Another false assumption theists make

Many theists go to great lengths to try to prove that a god exists. Why? Well, because if he does, then you should definitely start worrying what happens to you after death.

Wait, what? Why is the assumption made that if a god exists, there's life after death for us? Where is that coming from? How does that follow?

Even if there were a god, the proposition that there's life after death is a completely different and independent one. It definitely does not automatically follow.

Well, most people who believe in a god believe in a specific god, as described by a particular religion. A lot of religions not only have a lot to say about an afterlife, but insist that the afterlife is the most important thing we could possibly be concerned about. So, it's not that the existance of a god means there's an afterlife -- but if, say, the Christian God exists as described, then it seems likely that there would be an afterlife, because that's what he's all about.

I think you got that right Fyrebrand. Although the order of the stories starts with creation, I think the allure of religion is that it conquers death. Unfortunately that takes people's focus away from the problems here on earth.
