Have you guys ever heard of gematria? It works like this, if every letter is assigned a number based on it's position in the alphabet times 6, so A=6, B=12...and Z=156, every word can be given a numerical value by adding up all these numbers.

What is weird is that a lot of these add up to significant biblical numbers, someone on youtube just showed me a whole list. Interesting ones:

simple=444
English=444
Gematria=444
Code of god=444

these aren't biblical numbers though. There are some on the "end times":

a war in iraq =666
americas war=666
bushs war=666
mark of beast=666
a satanic mark=666
a devil of hell=666

and some about jesus:

the king=444
jesus=444
jewish=444
messiah=444

the good ones all seem to equal 444.

There are a few sites that calculate these, google search "english gematria calculator." I've heard that there are more in Hebrew and Greek.

What do you guys think? I'm not sure how I should take this, I honestly don't know if it can be a coincidence or not, so any light you can shed on the subject would be great. Thanks!

Of course there's a coincidental factor in that. People search for terms that fit with the number they want to get to, and avoid any that don't get that number. Even with your examples, this is clear; for several the letter 'A' is added to the text to make it work, as well as just constructing combinations of words that have both the number needed as well as actual meaning.

Besides that, most of the names of Jesus and so on are translations of other ones in the original language; you're taking english while in terms of religion the actual names and word that should be used would be in other languages entirely.

I'm always confused about those who only use the KJV of the Bible. This isn't the actual Bible; it has many errors, mistranslations and outright changes to the text to make it more politically and socially correct at the time. Take for example the description of Behemoth :

Job 40:

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

Scholars note that the Hebrew term usually translated "tail" here can refer euphemistically to the genitalia of a male elephant or hippo; each have a penis that when erect, extends several feet in length. Note that the term for "move" can also mean "extend," that the preceding verse describes strength being in the loins, and the verse that follows describes "stones wrapped in sinew," which arguably refers to the animal's testicles.

It's very easy to misinterpret a version of text if the text in question is not even literal, but a censored version of the original.

I would think Christians'd take the word of the very oldest and thus most accurate version of the Bible?

I guess so, it's a little eerie to me though. I only wish I knew Greek or Hebrew, because I've been told it works in those languages as well, but I have no way of knowing if they're telling the truth or not :/

Hey, Skeptic: I spent 30 minutes on that stupid gematria calculator to come up with those :? . Feel free to throw them back at the moronic bible code theists, and save yourself the effort. Does it feel a little less "eerie" to you yet?

some interesting ones I found:

thundercunt: 888 (2 444's=twice as ominous)
man the harpoon: 888
gay porno: 666
a public john: 666

that's all I could come up with after half an hour on Encyclopedia Dramatica...I think gay porno is the most ironic one.
