Posting Rules...

Postby Sans_Deity » Tue Mar 27, 2007 5:57 am

Well, it seems that we're going to be forced to have some general posting rules - as I've just locked a thread (the first, I think...and hopefully the last).

Rule, the first:
Be excellent to each other
- Don't be a dick
- Attack issues, not people

Rule, the second:
Have productive conversations.
- Try to be clear
- Try to avoid needless repetition
- Try to acknowledge the points others make
- Try to have a dialog/discussion instead of a sermon
- Try to avoid starting new threads when an existing thread will do
- Try to bring something interesting to the table
- Try to avoid needless repetition ;)

Rule, the third:
Know when to say, "when"
- Do not flog dead animals or topics
- Neither VOLUME nor repetition will establish that you are correct
- Everyone isn't going to agree...figure out when you've hit that point
- Topics and threads die out, recognize this
- If you absolutely must get the last word...tough.

Thus endeth the lesson.

I don't have any problem with the new post...and responded there. Don't make me add a rule that says you don't need to seek approval after each new post. ;) j/k

And as for you, Mr. McClane... har har. :)

Just reading over some posts and I have a suggestion; maybe a rule only allowing a certain amount of off topic discussion in any thread. Especially in a forum where many topics are likely to spiral off in an arguement about God's existance, a rule that would prevent people from completely derailing a topic is a good idea. There is nothing stopping the discussion from continuing in another thread however.

This way perfectly good discussion like...say..."Horrendous Bible verses" isn't going to be locked due to being ruined by apologetics.

(I think this post should be deleted, it is already breaking the rule of the sticky...)
